Oily Hair and Oily Scalp:

Oily hair looks moist, dull and is often difficult to comb. The fatty substance that covers oily hair called sebum is over produced by the sebaceous glands of the hair follicle. Sebum is rapidly is restored after washing the hair. More frequent washing with stronger, more soapy shampoos helps remove oil but damages the hair. Retinoic acid may be used to reduce oil production. Retinoic acid also stimulates hair growth and increases follicle health. But do not overuse the retinoic acid since this can result in scalp irritation.

Shampoo with our Folligen shampoo for oily hair, the shampoo should be completely rinsed from the hair to help bring the pH back down to its natural level. Also, the detergents in shampoos are very irritating to the scalp and must be completely removed. Most experts recommend using a shower for the most complete removal of the shampoo. Some shampoo manufacturers recommend that you comb through your wet hair to distribute the shampoo evenly into the hair. But wet hair is more easily broken way and you will only end up with worse hair.

Normal skin and scalp pH is somewhat acid and in the range of 4.2. to 5.6. It varies from one part of the body to another and, in general, the pH of a man's skin is lower (more acid) than that of a woman's. The acid mantle inhibits the growth of foreign bacteria and fungi and the skin remains healthier, and has fewer problems.

Hair Signals Solution or Folligen Spray

Folligen works as the perfect oily hair remedy because it helps rebuild the protective acid mantle of the scalp that shampoos and conditioners remove. The acid mantle is the combination of sebum (oils) and perspiration, on the skin's surface that protects the skin and renders the skin less vulnerable to damage and attack by environmental factors such as sun and wind and less prone to dehydration. The mantle also has strong anti-oxidant properties and is itself oxidized to protect the skin from oxidation. Sebum is naturally white but air oxidation turns it black (this is why "whitehead comedos" turn into "blackhead comedos").

Folligen adjusts the scalp pH into the acid range of optimal scalp health at about pH 5.0. Both Folligen Spray and Hair Signals Solution are oil-free and will not add any lipids or oil to the scalp or hair. In this manner, Folligen improves scalp health and aids hair growth. Folligen works well with Minoxidil or the Minoxidil and Retinoic Acid combination.

Bleached, or very blond hair may pick up a green tint if Folligen is in contact with the hair. This is similar to the greenish-tint that may occur after spending time in swimming pools. The blue color can be removed with a solution of 1 part of lemon juice and 4 parts of water.

If the coloring is a problem, then use Folligen for Blondes which has no blue color.

Use Emu Oil S Lipid Replenisher on top to facilitate penetration.

Typical results take approximately 4-6 weeks of consistent use.
