How to Treat Bedsores and Pressure Ulcers

I want to re-order BioHeal for my mother. She is in a wheelchair and gets sores on her bottom. Last March I tried BioHeal and it worked very well.

Now she is getting another sore and they've tried DUODERM but it only keeps the skin wet and squishy and is not helping. Please send the BioHeal ASAP.

KS, Bridgeport, CT

I have been using BioHeal on my mother who is many in bed or in a wheelchair. Sometimes I use it on her sores and cannot even find them a few days later. Before this, healing every sore was difficult.

Wheelchair Skin Treatment

I am re-ordering more Bioheal. It really stops the problem of all those little skin injuries I get when using my wheelchair.

JK, New York

My mother has diabetes and is in a wheelchair. She gets sores on her face and limbs.
The BioHeal is working very well to quickly heal the sores.

GR, Washington State

Dear Skin Biology,

I am a paraplegic and a diabetic. This combination presents too many cases where I have varying types of sores, from small to large, which take a much longer time to heal, since I became a diabetic some 6 years ago. I was given your product to try out around a decubitus ulcer which I had on my left side of my rump where the bone protrudes closest to the skin , while in a seated position. These sores appear quite often for spinal cord injured persons. They can take as long as 6 months to heal, which means a person usually must stay off of it for that entire period of time.

I used the blue ointment of yours (BioHeal), as directed, a thin layer around the wound. We had started to use a product called COMFEEL which I believe is put out by SQUIBB, which has worked reasonably better than what I have used in the past. At first, the sore was weepy, and that dressing would not stay put for more than a day at a time. As we continued to use it, it lasted for longer periods of time. Finally, after a couple of weeks of this procedure, we introduced your product. It wasn't a couple of days before it was healed after that. Please understand, we continued to use the SQUIBB COMFEEL patch, but added your product.

In addition to that, I often gouge my shins on varying things, related to my doing tasks necessary for my catering business, and with my feet projecting in front of me, being seated in a wheelchair, it makes it difficult to always reach items which I need. Since I have no sensation below the waist, I'm usually not aware that I even have a problem until the evening when I undress, and see the damage. This has happened twice since I started using your ointment (BioHeal). I have been amazed to see my more surface sores heal in a matter on about one week, where before it would take several weeks or longer.

Sincerely,

Dale Lundgrun
